Guest Post | RAW ZOODLES by Fab

/

I love raw foods. Living in the UK it’s hard to sustain a raw food diet, so I really like to keep it 70/30 with my raw diet. This is probably my favourite dish, as it also reminds me of my Italian origins. As you may get, I am a big fan of simple girl, who likes to mix it up a bit. Seriously, those balls are heaven. Let me know what you think! Raw Zoodles with Sunflower Seeds Meatballs

Ingredients (serves 4)
4 zucchini
4 vine tomatoes
1 bunch of parsley
2 tbsp extra virgin Olive Oil
200g sunflower seeds (soaked for 6 hours)
50g sun-dried tomatoes
5 olives
1 tsp dried Italian mixed herbs
50g linseeds egg (simply mix linseeds with 2tbsp water and let them sit
for 1 hour)
1 tbsp flaxseed

Instructions
Spiralise your zucchini with a spiraliser (or a mandolin will do!), place them in a bowl and sprinkle them with Himalayan salt, one spoon of extra virgin Olive oil and dried Italian mixed herbs. Let them sit for 30mins. Drain the sunflower seeds, combine them with the tomatoes, olives, ‘lindseed egg’ and flaxseed. Process for 30 seconds, scrape the meatballs from the surfaces and repeat for 2/3 times (I like to add a bit of Italian mix too).
Create 6/8 small meatballs from the sunflower batter, and let them sit in the fridge for 1/2 hours. Chop the vine tomatoes, add a pinch of Himalayan salt, chop the parsley finely and combine them in a mixing bowl.
Drain the zucchini (the salt helps releasing water) and add them to the tomato salsa. Top with sunflower seeds meatballs. I suggest you to sprinkle it all with some nutritional yeast.

Hello lovely myLifebox readers! My name is Tara Victoria, a Graphic Designer and Blogger from Canada. I run my design studio Hatch & Harbour as well as the blog taravictoria.com, a lifestyle and design blog blog about simplicity, experiences, living authentically and all things inspiring. I am thrilled to be guest posting for Anna-Rosa as she travels and takes a much needed break!

Though I love the warm weather of Summer, Fall just has something about it – a certain je ne sais quoi that I fall in love with all over again this time, each year. I don’t know if it’s the warmth of snuggling inside by the fireplace with a pumpkin spice latte (my favourite), all the beautiful colours when the leaves change or the new comfy fashion styles that come with the changing season. Whatever it is about this season that’s got my heart melting, one thing I know for sure is how much I adore re-vamping my wardrobe to match the cooling weather. I’ve put together some of my recent favourites for you guys that I hope you’ll enjoy shopping with your favourite pumpkin-flavoured snack!

Hi, lovely readers of myLifebox! I’m Latrina, writer and curator, of the lifestyle blog Of Trees and Hues and I’m elated to be guest writing for Anna-Rosa while she’s exploring Europe – which I can’t wait to hear all about!

I’m such an admirer of Anna-Rosa’s DIY posts and thought it would be a lot of fun to contribute to that, so today I’m sharing with you one of my favorite things to make during this time of the year – aroma simmer pots! They’re incredibly easy to make and will fill your home with the most comforting and divine scents. So, whether you’re currently experiencing the crisp, cool air of Autumn or the warmth of Summer, I have two recipes that I think you’ll love all year around!

The first is one of my favorites and one that reminds me so much of being a child during the holidays – it always manages to put me in such a festive mood and not to mention the aroma is absolutely amazing!

Ingredients:
An apple, cut in slices. The peels from one orange. Three cinnamon sticks and a tablespoon of whole cloves.

Process:
Fill a small saucepan with water along with all of the ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil. It’s best to designate a saucepan just for aromas as you don’t want to cook with it later. Once at a boil, reduce the heat to a simmer. You can leave to simmer all day long, just remember to replenish the water when needed. You can store the mixture in the fridge for up to three days to enjoy later.

Another one of my favorites is the aroma of lemons, rosemary, lavender and vanilla extract. It’s incredibly calming and the perfect scent for those days where you want to pamper yourself. Just like the previous recipe, you’ll boil your ingredients for a few minutes and leave to simmer to enjoy for the entire day!

The possibilities are absolutely endless when it comes to aromas – and such a great way to make use of discarded fruit too. I hope you try these two recipes and let us know what you think!

Guest Post | Hommie

Hello everyone! My name is Petros and I'm a Greek architect, designer and blogger, proud owner of Hommie. I'm so excited being part of Anna-Rosa's guest-blogging posts, featuring an easy and minimal DIY clothing rack.

Copper is still a strong and beautiful trend in home design and decoration. I think there's something in copper's colour that makes it so elegant and stylish. My inspiration came by several DIYs I found online, using copper plumbing accessories and round wooden sticks. I really like the simplicity and the scandinavian-design feeling of these two materials, when combined.

Instructions:

Get round wooden sticks from your local hardware store. Calculate how many pieces you need for your DIY project in order to buy enough supplies. Hardware stores usually have wooden sticks cut in standard length, for being easily transportable. The ones I got, for example, were 3m long each.
Cut the sticks into two 125cm long pieces, two 70cm long pieces, four 20cm long pieces and six 10cm long pieces.
Connect the wooden sticks with the copper pieces, as shown in diagram.
Check if the clothing rack is straight and steady and glue all the pieces together.
Enjoy!

Notes: Remember to check the diameter of the copper accessories. It has to be the same with the diameter of the wooden sticks. The ones I used for this DIY project were 23mm.
You can adjust the size of your clothing rack according to your needs. Change the length of the sticks marked as (b.) in the diagram, if you want it to be taller or shorter. Change the length of the sticks marked as (a.) in the diagram, to adjust its width.

Hi everyone! This is Corina, and i’m super excited to be posting today for Anna-Rosa! Halloween, is pretty much my favourite holiday of all. Although we don’t celebrate it in Greece, i do have a soft spot about anything spooky, even though i’m an extreme scaredy cat, there’s something about Halloween that makes my heart beat faster.

I’ve been always fascinated by Catrina, the Mexican Goddess of the dead. So much that in fact i’m already working on my next -and big one- tattoo, that’s going to be Catrina herself, amongst with Peonies. The idea of celebrating, and not be scared of death, remembering our loved ones with happiness could not describe me more.

Working on designing this Catrina skull, maybe me happier than any other personal project i’ve ever worked on. All purely designed in Illustrator, with a huge smile on my face, experimenting with dots and shapes that look like flowers. This is definitely my favourite kind of illustration.

So, i prepared two versions of a Muerta Invitation, one in gold and one in black. You can simply print the black and gold one and write your wording on the back with a golden marker. It’s going to look amazing trust me. Or you can choose the most minimal black and white one. Enjoy!

Guest Post | My Paradissi

Hello My Lifebox readers! This is Eleni, blogger behind My Paradissi and I’m here to fill up for sweet Anna-Rosa while she’s enjoying some well deserved time off. I know Anna-Rosa is a dearest fan of cooking (like, please, how delicious does this salad look?) so I thought I’d prepare for you a post that combines both the culinary essences of smell and taste with the visual one a decent interior designer and architect (hello Anna-Rosa) swears by. That means delicious recipes prepared in equally astonishing kitchens that, of course, get along perfectly in style and vibe. Like fresh vegetables and sleek surfaces, creamy cheese and whitewashed spaces, crisped bread and unrefined woods. Does it make any sense to you? I feel that the surroundings play a vital role for ones health and inspiration. Yes, no junk food is allowed in the above kitchens ;)

If you are indeed inspired and crave for some healthy delicacies, you can find the links to the recipes here:

You can always drop by My Paradissi to say hi :) Thanks Anna-Rosa for having me!

Hello, we are Becka & Nathan from Yeobo blog  We are so excited to be joining you on Anna-Rosa’s lovely piece of the web. Since she’s on a Euro-tour of her own (lucky lady), we thought this would be a perfect time to give you a few of our travel tips. Nathan just visited Italy in June, so let’s start there!  If you’re visiting Italy, you're probably staying in a bigger city as a hub and taking day trips to explore the surrounding areas. Here are four things to always have in your day bag.

Camera
Don't leave your camera behind for the sake of comfort, you'll end up regretting it an hour into your day. Plan ahead, bring a larger bag to comfortably tote your gadgets. Or invest in a camera strap you won’t be embarrassed to wear all day. We love this one from Tanner Goods.

An easy change
Guess what, Italy can get really hot... Depending on your traveling dates, it can be shirt sticking, face dripping kinda hot. Yuck. A smart traveler brings an extra shirt, or even a complete change of clothes. This will save you come 9 o'clock when the sun has gone down and your looking for a nice place to eat dinner. We realize this isn’t the most glamorous tip, but trust us... you’ll want to freshen up a bit after walking about all day in the hot sun. We love basics that can easily be tossed on with just about anything. Everlane has the perfect pieces for him and her.

Phone charger / adapter
Your phone will die and it will die fast. Even if your battery is fully charged, the constant yelping, gps locating and instagramming (all while you're roaming in a foreign country) will surely drain your battery. Fortunately there are tons of places to charge, like outlets on trains or in train stations. Just make sure you have the right adapter for your cables. We love these cord tacos to keep everything neat in your bag.

Extra room
Lastly, you want to leave some room. If your packed to the brim, you're going to be very sad when you can't fit that gorgeous pair of leather sandals into your bag. Roaming new cities often leads to shopping. Leave space for it!

Thanks for having us!

When Gabrielle from Hippie Go Lucky asked me to make a DIY project for her blog I got really excited! At first I didn't know what to do but after a few emails, I was sure I had to make something with concrete. I decided to make a couple of candle holders. So, if you want to know how I made them, check out here. In any case, visit Gabrielle's blog, it's definitely worth it!

Guest Post:: Traditional Cheese Pie

/

Today, I have the honor to introduce you to Manthos and his grandmas cheese pie! Manthos is a fellow student in Chania and a really good novice photographer. Recently he started a project, called 9+1 postcards, which is great and you can check it out here. You can also find his incredible photos on devianart, here. As for now, we will stick on this amazingly easy and yet delicious traditional cheese pie his grandma made. Thank you Manthos for your little contribution on myLifebox..

You'll need::
1kg flour
1 glass of water
1tsp salt
olive oil
feta cheese [filling]

How to::
Preheat the oven to 240C.
Combine all the ingredients, besides feta cheese, using your hands. Let the dough rest for a while and then divide it into small balls. Press every ball just a little bit with a rolling pin. Then make groups of three and roll out each group till you make a really thin sheet. Drizzle every dough sheet with a bit of olive oil. Fold 1/3 of the sheet and drizzle the part revealed too. Add feta cheese and roll the sheet. Butter a round pan and put the rolled sheet in a way that shapes a spiral. Do the same for the rest of the sheets. Drizzle some olive oil on top of the pie and put it in the oven. Lower the heat to 200C and bake for 30'.

Thank you again Manthos for your lovely photos and your grandmas recipe!
Enjoy!

Hey guys! This is the last post from the Guest Post Week! Last but not least at all comes Nicky!! She is one of my best friends..she belongs to the group of people I call family and not just good friends. We met nine years ago (right Nicky? -she always remembers everything better than me!) and we are very close ever since. I want to special thank her for her post here, cause she hasn't got a clue about blogging..and she doesn't even have a good camera! So we have to congratulate her a million times more than normal for delivering my call..notably good!! So...

It is a great pleasure of mine to support and contribute to the blog of my beloved friend, Anna. Below I will show you ideas and solutions for your house with little or no cost. Anna I'm waiting photos from Venice! :)

To begin with, if you want to give your space a vintage style, start with your family. Personally I found an 70's vacuum cleaner which belonged to my grandmother, which is a work of art and is now an ornament in the house.

Also, a few weeks ago, my dear friend and neighbor Andrew found an old door with laths in a abandoned building next to my apartment.  Today this door is a functional and beautiful "furniture" where i put my glasses, magazines, books, cd' s.

This advice is for those who have decided not to have a TV at home. Personally I am more relaxed and calm without a TV, and spending time at home is much more productive and creative. You can get a computer screen, insert it into the wall and connect it to your laptop. By doing this you can watch what's you want through the internet , movies, series, news. Around the screen, you can put a frame. By selecting different wallpapers, your "tv" becomes a painting.

A few weeks ago i found a child crib headboard. Today I used it to put my scarves, gloves, bags or everything else.

If you're lucky to have a porch  or terrace at your home  you can make it  one of the prettiest parts of the house. You can buy bags with seeds (I have lavender, basil and mint), put them in tiny and colored pots, cover  them with soil. After a few weeks flowers will start growing. Also  I have to  say that to put flowers in your place, is not necessary costly. You can find cheap flowers from the local market. Finally if you want to create soft lighting to the terrace, you can place hooks and with fishing line to hang colorful lanterns. Lanterns can also be placed on branches, if your porch is near trees.

Our house is the place that represents us more and it can be beautiful and functional without having to spend a fortune. :)

Guest Post no4 :: Chocolate Muffins

/
Today I'm introducing you to Antigone! Many of you who follow the blog may know her already. She's the one who helps me with almost every DIY post (or gives me the idea to do it). She's the one who feels too shy (or bored, who knows?) to make her own blog but gets the satisfaction she needs through ours (Kynthia from ABitOfGreen is her best friend). And she's also the girl who I'm having this (sure amazing) week in Venice!! She and Kynthia are two very very good friends of mine..and I have to say I feel very lucky we started hanging out together since last spring, cause they are amazing and we do so many interesting things together!! The recipe Antigone is sharing today is super easy and delicious! So...enjoy!!

You 'll need, for 9 muffins ::
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
½  cup sugar
½  cup melted butter
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Dark chocolate pieces

How to
 ::
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C. Grease the muffin cases with some oil or butter and set aside. Combine the milk with the butter and then add the sugar, the cocoa, the salt, the baking soda and the rest of the ingredients. Mix them altogether, Add the chocolate pieces and combine again until you have a uniform mixture. Place 2 heaping tablespoons batter in each muffin case and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean, 15 to 20 minutes.
Serve warm…or not! (:
See? It’ s easy.

Guest Post no3 :: DIY Lightbulb Christmas Ornament

/
So, Kynthia, I guess as a much more experienced blogger than me, thought of giving herself a small introduction. But I really want to say a few things about her too. I actually met Kynthia last spring. We have been fellow students since 2008, but for some unfortunate reason we didn't hang out a lot before. Since we do though, I have to admit she has become a very close friend of mine (with Antigone too-you'll meet her tomorrow)! I'm very happy and honored I'm hosting a DIY post of hers. Thanks a lot Kynthia!

Hi there! I'm Kynthia from a bit of green, one of Anna Rosa's friends and fellow architecture student. Since the start of November, I'm in a really christmassy mood; this and the suspicious incident that two lightbulbs in my house burned out in the same day led to the following DIY project I'll share with you.

Lightbulb Christmas Ornament

You will need ::
-  one or more burned out lightbulb(s)
-  water soluble colors of your choice
-  a screwdriver and snips
-  a glue gun (Anna, thanks for lending me yours!)
-  some string to hang the lightbulbs

How to ::
Hollow out your lightbulb using the screwdriver and snips (I used this excellent tutorial from teamdroid). Tip: I did it over my sink to minimize the mess.
When you're done, fill the lightbulb with water and squeeze just a little paint inside it. Shake it to see the final colour and add more if needed.
If you are satisfied with the result, take your glue gun and seal the end of the lightbulb with silicone.
Let it cool for a little bit and tie it with a piece of string. Done!

I had no tree to hang my lightbulb on, so I used my lamp instead. :P
I'm seriously considering asking my friends to give me all their burned out lightbulbs until December; a christmas tree decorated with lightbulbs in various shapes and colors will be awesome!

Guest Post no2 :: Knit your home

/
Well, today I asked Mariana to contribute to my Guest Posting Week. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't even try to imagine this week without her appearance! She's very close to me from the very begging of this blog. We spend a lot of time together, and used to spent much more, cause she is my project partner. I assure you we make a hell of a team , not always being very professional, enthralled by the endless talks we have about our pets, or clothes, or our sweethearts, or just gossiping..! We do make a good architecture team too though! So...Mariana it is difficult to say just a few things about you! In short, thank you very much for that post and I hope there will be more to come!

The last week, weather here, in Chania, has started becoming a bit more cold and cloudy, so November is really here and winter is coming too! Anna, Antigone, Kynthia and I were influenced by a project in our school and we have discussed a several times about learning how to knit. I think it’s a great idea because not only you can make clothes and accessories by yourself but also a lot of beautiful things for your home, making it wintry and cozy! It’s really refreshing changing some stuff in home’s decoration through the different seasons!
Here are some ideas for what you can knit, buy or even make from old knitting you don’t use (sweaters, scarves etc), in order to add some warm details in your home.
