My Home on A Bird's Leap Blog !

/
Jenna, from A Bird's Leap, asked me a few months ago to show her my home. She was curious to see how do I use all these black and white diys I make. Unfortunatelly, I had this accident... well, actually my small coffee table had an accident and a couple of things broke (like these pots). But I still have some diys shown on these photos. If you want, check it out here!  Make sure you check her lovely blog too :)
Thanks a lot Jenna!

HOME is where your BOOKS are...

/
books... I love books! If only I had money...I would buy a book a day! Ok, I'm not the kind of reader who "eats" every book, cover to cover, in one day... But, I love books. Not only literature etc, but mostly albums, architecture or photography books (yes, I know, these are the most expensive..uh! )! And I love also travel guides, I kinda collect them, it's nice to have one for each place you've been.
Anyway, this is a corner in my living room..with some of my books!

Guest Post no5 :: Affordable home ideas

Hey guys! This is the last post from the Guest Post Week! Last but not least at all comes Nicky!! She is one of my best friends..she belongs to the group of people I call family and not just good friends. We met nine years ago (right Nicky? -she always remembers everything better than me!) and we are very close ever since. I want to special thank her for her post here, cause she hasn't got a clue about blogging..and she doesn't even have a good camera! So we have to congratulate her a million times more than normal for delivering my call..notably good!! So...

It is a great pleasure of mine to support and contribute to the blog of my beloved friend, Anna. Below I will show you ideas and solutions for your house with little or no cost. Anna I'm waiting photos from Venice! :)

To begin with, if you want to give your space a vintage style, start with your family. Personally I found an 70's vacuum cleaner which belonged to my grandmother, which is a work of art and is now an ornament in the house.

Also, a few weeks ago, my dear friend and neighbor Andrew found an old door with laths in a abandoned building next to my apartment.  Today this door is a functional and beautiful "furniture" where i put my glasses, magazines, books, cd' s.

This advice is for those who have decided not to have a TV at home. Personally I am more relaxed and calm without a TV, and spending time at home is much more productive and creative. You can get a computer screen, insert it into the wall and connect it to your laptop. By doing this you can watch what's you want through the internet , movies, series, news. Around the screen, you can put a frame. By selecting different wallpapers, your "tv" becomes a painting.

A few weeks ago i found a child crib headboard. Today I used it to put my scarves, gloves, bags or everything else.

If you're lucky to have a porch  or terrace at your home  you can make it  one of the prettiest parts of the house. You can buy bags with seeds (I have lavender, basil and mint), put them in tiny and colored pots, cover  them with soil. After a few weeks flowers will start growing. Also  I have to  say that to put flowers in your place, is not necessary costly. You can find cheap flowers from the local market. Finally if you want to create soft lighting to the terrace, you can place hooks and with fishing line to hang colorful lanterns. Lanterns can also be placed on branches, if your porch is near trees.

Our house is the place that represents us more and it can be beautiful and functional without having to spend a fortune. :)

Guest Post no2 :: Knit your home

/
Well, today I asked Mariana to contribute to my Guest Posting Week. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't even try to imagine this week without her appearance! She's very close to me from the very begging of this blog. We spend a lot of time together, and used to spent much more, cause she is my project partner. I assure you we make a hell of a team , not always being very professional, enthralled by the endless talks we have about our pets, or clothes, or our sweethearts, or just gossiping..! We do make a good architecture team too though! So...Mariana it is difficult to say just a few things about you! In short, thank you very much for that post and I hope there will be more to come!

The last week, weather here, in Chania, has started becoming a bit more cold and cloudy, so November is really here and winter is coming too! Anna, Antigone, Kynthia and I were influenced by a project in our school and we have discussed a several times about learning how to knit. I think it’s a great idea because not only you can make clothes and accessories by yourself but also a lot of beautiful things for your home, making it wintry and cozy! It’s really refreshing changing some stuff in home’s decoration through the different seasons!
Here are some ideas for what you can knit, buy or even make from old knitting you don’t use (sweaters, scarves etc), in order to add some warm details in your home.

Scandinavian Rustic

When I found this beautiful home on styleathome I truly fell in love with it. Tara, the owner, set a greate goal, but not that simple to achieve : to make a stylish, neat and modern home, in mostly Scandinavian style...with only 10.000$-kitchen included! I have to admit she totally did it!! The lockers in the living room, the pallet bed and other beautiful things, that cost much less than you think, give a rustic feeling without  distracting you from a Scandinavian and clean look.

Beautiful interior in Sweden

I found this beautiful home on Alvhem, a great site with houses for sale (in Sweden-so don't smile if you don't live there!). But, the houses are so neat that you literally want to book tickets right away and move to Sweden! I love this one because it mixes perfectly rustic touches (like the carpet in the living room) and Scandinavian design.

I was just sitting on the couch and for some reason this point of view of my other couch seemed extremely right. This a picture of my home. I'm planning on having a Home-Tour-Post this fall, but I have to do some stuff round here first.. So take a glimpse of it now and hopefully you'll see all of it soon.

While we are still thinking in some innovative interior decoration ideas for this summer, IKEA is already presenting its 2013 collection of furniture & home accessories. The new 2013 collection from IKEA which includes furniture, linen and decorative accessories is characterized by some special features; IKEA 2013 furniture fabrics are very distinguished with its original designs; romantic, ethnic, contemporary and pop.

I don't know about you, but  I'm thrilled to bits about IKEAs new collection!I totaly want all the new pieces right now, right here. I even feel I need them sometimes. I'm counting the days till I go to the IKEA store in Athens, when the 2013 collection is released. You know,to take a look at all this cool new stuff and write down what I want, with the little cute ikea pencil-which I take with me everytime, ending up with dozens of them around my place.

IKEA totaly is taking the inspiration one step further by being alive with smart ideas, fun stories and beautiful products on your smartphone. Isn't it great? Watch this video, about the new IKEA catalog App for smartphones or tablets.
